We’re Hiring:
Product Engineer
We are seeking a curious, adaptable Product Engineer to join our growing startup team and support the ongoing development of our booking platform, internal systems and data capabilities.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-growing mobility startup tackling one of the UK’s biggest accessibility challenges. You'll help to develop the tools we need to provide the experiences our customers deserve.
Location: London (Hybrid, 2 days per week in-office)
Salary: £35k-£50k (dependant on experience and skills)
Experience: 1–3 years
Reports to: Technology Lead
About ORA
Our vision is simple but ambitious: to create a world where everyone can move freely and independently.
We believe accessibility is the cornerstone of a better tomorrow – and we’re building it today.
Our mission: to enable 15 million accessible journeys a year by 2030 through innovative mobility solutions.
At ORA, we’re transforming how disabled people, carers, and families move, travel, and live freely. From wheelchair-accessible car rentals to flexible subscriptions, we’re building a brand that puts people and purpose at the heart of mobility.
The Role
As a startup, we move quickly and work collaboratively. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable working outside a rigid job description, and sees new problems as opportunities to learn.
This is a role that spans both technical implementation and business engagement. You will work closely with sales, operations and leadership, using modern tools (including AI-assisted development platforms) to help solve real business problems. While prior experience with our technologies is not required, a technical mindset, a willingness to learn and a passion for problem solving are must haves.
What You’ll Do
Product and platform support:
Support the development and improvement of our booking platform and internal tools, using AI-assisted development tools (Lovable/Bolt/Claude etc.), low-code platforms and traditional software where appropriate. With a small technical team this can be anything form architecture to QA.
Data and analytics:
Help build, maintain and improve our data stack, including:
- Data flows and integrations
- Basic ETLs and transformations
- Reports and dashboards used for operational and commercial decision-making
You will work with stakeholders to understand what data is needed, where it comes from, and how it should be structured and interpreted.
Analytical thinking:
Use data to help answer business questions, identify trends, and highlight opportunities or issues, rather than simply producing reports.
Technical foundations:
Develop a working understanding of system architecture, APIs, databases and integrations, contributing to discussions around structure, scalability and maintainability.
Security and data handling:
Apply sensible security and data protection principles, with guidance, to ensure systems are safe, compliant and well-managed.
Collaboration:
Work closely with colleagues across the business and with external partners, contributing to a collaborative and pragmatic startup culture.
What You’ll Bring
- 1–3 years’ experience in a technical, analytical or product-focused role, or equivalent hands-on experience through projects, startups or self-directed learning.
- A strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to research unfamiliar topics and learn independently.
- Comfort working with data, numbers and systems, and an interest in how data supports business decisions.
- Confidence using modern tools, including AI-based tools, to accelerate learning and delivery.
- A flexible, proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership in a fast-moving environment.
We’re keen to hear from all sorts of backgrounds; perhaps you are a Business Analyst or Product Owner that’s keen to be more hands on, a Data Analyst that wants to build the products they report on or a Developer that wants more ownership of what they build.
Why ORA
- Be part of a purpose-led startup transforming accessible transport in the UK.
- Join a small, creative, impact-driven team where your ideas shape the brand.
- Hybrid working — 2 days per week in our London office. During onboarding, a higher in-office presence is likely to help you get up to speed.
- 25 days holiday + your birthday off + Christmas shutdown.
- £500 annual learning budget and strong progression opportunities.
How to Apply
Send your CV and a short note on why you’d love to be part of the ORA team to ben.parkyn@openroadaccess.co.uk.
We welcome applications from disabled people and carers and can make adjustments throughout the process.
